The NEST activity focuses on physics of two dimensional systems, such as surfaces, Interfaces and thin films as well as nanostructures and their growth, characterization and applications to Nanotechnology, Energy and Environment.
In recent years, we have focused on growth, characterization and applications of novel 2D materials, including graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) in Energy and Environment. In particular, the NEST is actively involved in applications of nanostructured materials in Production of Hydrogen via Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting reaction, CO2 reduction, Photo-degradation of toxic wastes to useful chemicals by using visible light as well as in the area of Supercapacitors.
