این هفته آقای شانت باغرام مروری خواهند داشت بر گردهمایی «آزمون گرانش و فیزیک گرانشی» که به تازگی در دانشگاه کیس وسترن برگزار شد. چکیدهٔ سمینار آقای باغرام را در زیر می‌بینید:

Abstract:
Recently, in May 18-21 , 2009 in Case Western University  a workshop was held about
tests of gravity and gravitational physics,with the purpose of inspiration theorists to propose further tests of both classical and quantum gravitational physics, whether in the laboratory or in outer space, experimental or observational, while also paying attention to the experimental and observational implementation. This focused workshop will bring together both theorists and experimentalists working on these topics.
I will try to summarize some of important talks in a couple of slides to give an image of this workshop.

The Physics of Supernova Explosions

Abstract: “Supernovae are natures grandest explosions and an astrophysical laboratory in which unique conditions exist that are not achievable on Earth. They are also the furnaces in which most of the elements heavier than carbon have been forged. Scientists have argued for decades about the physical mechanism responsible for these explosions. It is clear that the ultimate energy source is gravity, but the relative roles of neutrinos, fluid instabilities, rotation and magnetic fields continue to be debated.”

Black Hole detection by microlensing in a binary system

Abstract: we investigate microlensing event in a binary system when
a component of it is a Black Hole. We generate the corresponding light curve for such a this system and calculate the probability of finding a black-hole by this method.

مدل ΛCDM به عنوان حالت خاصی از f(R)-gravity در فضای پارامتر

این هفته آقای شانت باغرام دربارهٔ موضوع زیر سمینار خواهند داد:

LCDM as privileged state of parameter space in generic f(R) gravity
Absract:
CONTEXT: In this work we propose a generic modified gravity action with two free parameters and derive the dynamics of universe through this action in Palatini formalism. We noted that in special case the action resembles to  ΛCDM as  a special case of this generic action in the parameter space.
AIM: We do cosmological comparison of this model with observed data to find the best parameters of model in flat universe.
METHOD: To constraint the free parameters of model we use the SNIa type Ia two data sets of Gold and Union Sample, CMB-shift parameter, Baryon Acoustic oscillation, gas mass fraction in cluster of galaxies and large scale structure data.
RESULT: The  best  parameters  from  observational  data  shows  that LCDM  as  a special point in the  parameter  space  is privileged by the observation.

سمینارهای هفتگی کیهان‌شناسی در این نیم‌سال آغاز شده‌اند. سمینار این هفته را آقای نادر شکیبا و خانم آناهیتا علوی با موضوع «زنجیر مارکوف» برگزار خواهند کرد. هدف از این سمینار آشنایی با این روش و به‌کاربردن آن در تحلیل مدل‌های کیهان‌شناختی و اخترفیزیکی است. چکیدهٔ این سمینار را در زیر می‌بینید:

Markov chain

“A markov chain is a stochastic process with the markov property. Having the markov property means, given the present state, future states are independent of the past states.

In this talk we will define markov chain and identify its dependence to time. Then we will review its basic properties for example: stationary state, transition probabilities.

We will also introduce researchable state, absorbing state, transient and recurrent state. Finally we present some applications of it in different fields.”
