Galaxy Formation and Evolution

Abstract: Understanding galaxy formation and evolution is one of the most important subjects in observational astronomy and cosmology. It is now clear that galaxy evolution strongly depends on the environment in which galaxies reside. Clusters and groups of galaxies as largest gravitationally bound objects in the Universe, provide suitable environments for investigating the formation and evolution of galaxies. However, this is a coarse grain classification when it comes to the details of the environmental impact. In general, we study on the dynamical state of galaxy systems. There have been a number of studies dedicated to the identification of fossil galaxy groups, arguably groups with a relatively old formation epoch or in ultimate dynamical relaxation. In these groups, the brightest group galaxy lies in the bottom of the potential well of the dark matter halo. In this talk, I will try to show some recent finding relates to the properties of these types of groups in the numerical simulations and observations.
